Flagler county encompasses a total of 571 square miles in an area that consists of 485 square miles of land and 86 square miles of water. The St. Johns river lies to the north of Flagler County, Volusia County to the south, and to the west is Putnam County. The Atlantic Ocean defines the eastern portion for a total of 19 miles.
